Collagen Smoothie with Banana and Peanut Butter

Smoothies are such a convenient way to pack in a lot of skin-loving nutrients and whilst I prefer to eat and chew my food, they can be really useful for busy mornings, when you are on the go or needing a bit of extra nutrition after a workout. As this recipe proves, they are also a delicious vessel for those of us that take collagen powder. The combination of peanut butter, banana and raw cacao powder makes this smoothie taste like a delicious milkshake and masks any collagen-flavour for the sensitive among us. As a side note though, for some people, smoothies can be a bit upsetting to the gut given that all of the foods are already broken down and much more rapidly absorbed as a result. So if you are someone that experiences nausea, loose bowels or some other gut symptoms, keep this in mind before trying this (or any) smoothie recipe.

Ingredients

1 scoop collagen powder

175mL milk of choice

1 small banana, peeled

1 tbsp pure peanut butter

1 tsp raw cacao powder (or to taste)

Method

STEP 1
Add the milk, collagen powder, peeled banana, peanut butter and raw cacao powder to a blender.

STEP 2
Add as much or as little ice as you wish and blend all of the ingredients together until the desired consistency.

STEP 3
Adjust as required, for example, add more milk (or water) to make it a thinner consistency, add more ice to achieve a frappe-like consistency and add more raw cacao powder and/or peanut butter as desired.
